Last week, my grandmother (Beulah Redcay) passed away. We knew she was sick and had gone home from the hospital on hospic Tuesday evening. She went to heaven Saturday morning. Nick and I flew out Saturday night to be with my mom and family. As crazy as it was, it was good for us to go.

Grandma at our wedding Sep. 2006. One of the last times she traveled.

After 3 hrs delay due to a severe storm in PA, we took off, arrived in Phili and rented a car to drive to Elizabethtown, PA. Nick and I crashed when we arrived at 4am. . .

We were with my mom and helped to look through pictures to make a collage for the funeral. I started contacting some friends as I wanted to be able to see some who are in the area.

We spent lots of time with friends, family and even some “family” many of whom were very influential in my life or my mom’s life. It was so good to reconnect and introduce Nick around. After the funeral services were over, we spent some more time meeting friends as well as getting Nick out to see some of the countryside. And of course we had to hit the hot spots of Hershey, Chocolate World and Twin Kiss in E-town. He had never been out to PA so it was fun to see him really enjoying the countryside. We did a whirlwind tour of a few covered bridges in Lancaster County. Here’s a map of what we drove.  It was fun to drive through the countryside by many Amish farms and lost of beautiful land.

Here’s a slide show of some other pictures.
