2 Years ago we did a great family photo shoot and we decided to go again this year.  Ironically the photographer we used 2 years ago, Jo Ramsey, has a younger brother, Nate Duncan, who is now doing photography so it was a great shoot at Roxborough State park.

Here’s a comparison from 2 years ago.

It worked out perfectly to combine a work conference for Nick in Seattle with family weekends in Bellingham. So we flew into Seattle and headed up for a day with Kara’s Grandparents who are in their 90’s. We did church and lunch which was enough adventure for one day.  While Nick was at his conference, Ivan and I explored Seattle. We have a museum pass that let us into some in Seattle. So we enjoyed the Children’s Museum of Bellevue, Science Center of Seattle, Museum of Flight. Ivan’s favorite was the Children’s Museum where he got to play with race cars, a big rig, climbing ropes, trains and water tables. After the week of Seattle we headed back up to Bellingham for one more day and thankfully it was a wonderful sunny day. We took Kara’s grandparents on a drive and out to lunch with a view of the water near the Canadian boarder. It was a lovely trip to see family and friends, but we were glad to be back home, despite the early snow in CO!

My parents had a celebration of 40 years of ministry that they asked my brother and I and our families to be a part of in Pennsylvania.  So we booked a flight to Harrisburg and arrived and headed to the party. We had a busy weekend of being together in a very eclectic house in Mt Gretna as well as spending time where my parents are parked with great family friends who have known me all my life.  The boys were in the pool as much as the rain held off and didn’t seem to mind the chilly water.  We hit up a few tourist stops before parting ways.

Nick and I then took a day to visit Baltimore, MD and hang out around the Inner Harbor area. We walked around and explored some local places and the free Baltimore Art Museum. We thoroughly enjoyed some great seafood while there then headed back to drop Nick off at the airport.

Ivan and I stayed a week longer so that I could visit with my dear friends from elementary school and a college friend in the area.  It was fun to reconnect and have play dates with kidos.  Ivan as always was excited to meet new friends and play as much as possible yet did really well when he was the only one as well.  He is such a great traveler.

We rounded off the trip by a visit to Roots Farmers Market and dinner with special family friends. It was great, but we were tired and ready to be home and see Nick again.

Better late than never, but I’m finally getting our blog update. We were able to be with Nick’s family over Easter.  His sister, Leia, and her kids from Italy were visiting so we all flew down to Phoenix, where his sister Abby lives, for the Easter weekend and beyond. Nick took a couple of days off work then worked from AZ for a couple of days. It was great to hang out with everyone.

My parents were still parked in AZ so we slept there and had breakfast with them, other than that didn’t really see them as Ivan would fall asleep before we got back for the night.  He had so much fun playing with all his cousins all day it wore him out.  We also highlighted the Zoo, Phoenix Science Center, playgrounds, parks and Abby’s pool.

So much fun!

Ivan and I were in AZ for Thanksgiving and about 2 weeks around the holiday.  Nick’s sister and family moved down to Phoenix this summer so it was fun to visit them and the cousins had fun playing together.  While we were there we visited the zoo, Christmas lights on Natal Circle in Mesa, train park and lots of time swimming and playing outside with cars, trucks and the trampoline. Nick and his Dad joined the family for the holiday.  We had fun being together! So thankful that we have family and places to travel for all kinds of adventures.

Nicolas’ grandparents have birthdays very close together, so the family decided to throw a party since this year would be Grandpa’s 90th.  I decided that Ivan and I should road trip to Kansas City before to hang out with old friends.  We took off early Friday morning and much to my delight he enjoyed the car ride: listening and reading books much of the time.  We picked out a few special surprises from the dollar store so that helped as well!   I got to catch up with many friends from Kansas City past as well as other pasts. Ivan was such a trooper and we would leave one house of “new friends” and he would always ask, “Where are we going to next, Mommy?”

After a week of visits Nick flew into Kansas City and then the next morning we headed to Newton, KS to hang out with his family.  Newton was having a few festivals that we tried to enjoy but the rain kept us inside. Ivan didn’t mind as we utilized the hotel pool!  The birthday party was a success! Then on Sunday we spent the day with Nick’s dad and some other family.

The drive home with Nick was enjoyable and Ivan again did a great job in the car.  A most successful trip.

Shortly after vacation my nephew flew in to visit from Michigan.  Ivan had a blast playing with Silas.  They had fun swimming together, going to the playground, museum, creek, making and eating popsicles, reading Garfield and building forts.

The three of us flew together to Seattle where his parents and my parents met up and we all spent a week together in Birch Bay, WA.  My cousin was getting married in Bellingham so Nick flew up from work just for the weekend.  The boys really enjoyed the bay especially low tide when they could dig up rocks and shells and splash in the water.  The house we rented also had video games so they enjoyed playing against each other and the adults.

My cousin is an animal lover and her wedding shows that. Instead of attendants she had her beloved pets!  It was unique but fun to experience. Ivan loved watching the animals.
